Use events to grow your product and brand

It's using events and the engagement and actions that take place before, during and after an event. It's about getting people to experience your product, and using signals of usage, to increase their engagement with your product and brand. – Mark Kilens

The right way to do online events

  1. Partner up on events
There's so much spam out there; you need to generate attention above the fold. Partner up with someone you trust to increase your reach.
  2. Co-promote the event
Use lead share to drive partners to promote the event.
  3. Personalize the event
Add some flair to show attendees know you know them and why they are there.
  4. Follow up after the event
Send a gift, a DM, or a thank you, letting attendees know you're glad they came.
  5. Cross-reference your audience list with people who fit your ICP.
Put on a VIP event experience for those who fit your ICP.
  6. Keep 'em short
If longer 60+ min webinars aren't working, try something shorter.

Market musings

One thing I've noticed in my own participation in virtual events is that when the audience is allowed "on stage" (like actually appearing on audio & video) to ask a question or contribute to the conversation – engagement really spikes.

So often, B2B marketing teams are afraid to do stuff like this, because they may lose control. Heck, I've even seen some webinars where participants aren't even able to chat with the rest of the audience.

Involving the audience in the live event by letting them ask questions (even unscripted & live) is a great way to execute on #marketingtogether, IMHO.
