PartnerHacker Daily #168: Build Relationships

Unlikely book recs

One of the best ways to learn is by reading books outside of your area of expertise.

I tend to like books that give me new frameworks in different fields more than nuts and bolts or how-tos for my field.

An all-time favorite is A Timeless Way of Building, By Christopher Alexander.

I got it from a tech entrepreneur who told me he coded his product from the principles in the book. Then he built a house on the same principles.

The author shows how things that seem subjective (e.g., "a nice house") actually have objective principles behind them.

Learning how to structure systems for human flourishing is a powerful thing that applies everywhere.

Supporting agency partnership

Last week, we held our monthly First Friday event (on a 3rd Thursday). Alex Lazoff, Leah Beitler, Marco De Paulis, and Stewart Wesley spoke about supporting agency partnerships.

They touched on topics like how to make a good first impression, how to recruit and engage, researching, and learning to speak your partner's language.

This was one of those hard-hitting, no-holds-barred conversations. Agencies told us exactly what makes a good partner. And top PMs shared exactly what (and what not) to do.

Might need the rewind button for this one.

How do world-class PM's support agency partnerships? Watch on YouTube.
