Advertisements of the past
In Dave Yovanno’s episode on PartnerUp, he explained, “Influencers are like buyer’s representatives.”
When influencing became a popular concept, people didn’t understand. They thought it was the same thing as Michael Jordan on a cereal box or Tom Brady in a Subway commercial.
In the past, it was an unspoken fact — they were paid a lot to do this. Now, though, there’s a bit more nuance around endorsement. That nuance seems to be working in favor of commerce.
Creating trust, not just shilling products
The creator economy is just getting started. Take a look at the data points in this article. It's undeniable that this is more than just a passing trend.
The creator economy as it stands today is a smaller trend nested in something much bigger. The micro-trend might be brands connecting with influencers to communicate products to their audiences.
