Trust but verify
I want to trust that this can work, but I also want to verify. The verification comes from actions and commitments to those actions: you do what you say you're going to do.
-John Jankowski, Outsource VP of Sales at Sales Xceleration
The best analogy in partnerships
Every partnership is like a romantic relationship.
When I was first getting into partnerships, I leaned on the only "partnership" I really understood: my marriage. I started seeing similarities between the two, and it helped me to become a better partner person.
Here are a few ways business partnerships are similar to your IRL partnerships:
- Everything begins and ends with follow-through
- Just because it makes sense doesn’t mean it’s going to happen
- Trust makes or breaks the long-term success of your relationship
- If you want something to last, you have to think big-picture about why you’re partnering
- Partnerships are a shared experience
- The more friction points that develop, the less likely the partnership will bear fruit
- Communication is vital to success

Build your partner pipeline at conferences
Partner conferences are coming in HOT this year! And they're not just for partner professionals. We'd love to see sales, marketing, and success professionals there too! Let's talk about how we can win together.
ShopTalk: Last week marked what I believe is the first big partnering conference in conference season. So many incredible folks from E-commerce headed to Las Vegas to meet, network, and build relationship momentum that will fuel new and existing partnerships for the rest of the year.
SaaS Connect: On April 19-20th I’m headed back to the first partnerships conference I ever attended to meet with members of The Cloud Software Association.
Crossbeam's Supernode: In June, I'm headed to Supernode in San Diego, which last year, was one of the best conferences I've ever been to (across industry and career).
Catalyst: And finally, I’m signed up to go to Partnership Leaders’ conference in August. I’m so stoked to welcome all of my partnership colleagues and friends from around the globe to my city where we'll discuss all things partnerships. I want to know what's working, what's not working, and how we move forward.
If you're planning on going to any of these events, tag me or send me a DM on LinkedIn. I'd love to meet you!
Until next time,
